Pupuk Indonesia Supports Weightlifting National Championship

JAKARTA – The Pupuk Indonesia Group once again supported the holding of the 2022 National Weightlifting Championship (Kejurnas) which was held by the Executive Board of the All Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PB PABSI). This time, the company supported the Senior or Adult Weightlifting National Championship which took place for three days from 25-28 October 2022 in Sentul, West Java (West Java).

This activity is still part of the series of the National Junior Weightlifting Championships which will be held at the Klebengan Gymnasium, Sleman, Yogyakarta on September 27-30 2022. This was stated by the Director Of Productioon of Pupuk Indonesia, Bob Indiarto while attending the opening of the National Senior Lifting Championships.

"Pupuk Indonesia welcomes the activities of the Senior Weightlifting National Championship, this event is still part of the Junior National Championship events at Klebengan Gorge, Yogyakarta," said Bob Indiarto.

Bob hopes that the 2022 Senior Weightlifting Championship can become a platform for athletes to improve their achievements. This is because weight lifters have made many achievements at the national and even international level in recent years.

The support from Pupuk Indonesia Group is provided by Pupuk Indonesia and its three subsidiaries, namely PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang, PT Pupuk Kaltim and PT Petrokimia Gresik. All of these subsidiaries welcome the Youth and Junior to Adult Weightlifting National Championships this year.

"I hope that not only 3 subsidiaries but 10 subsidiaries will participate, and of course we hope and really appreciate the athletes who are members of PB PABSI who have made many national and international achievements," said Bob.

Bob hopes that all senior weight lifters who take part in the National Championship can maintain sportsmanship, enthusiasm, and provide motivation for young Indonesians to excel both domestically and on an international scale.

PB PABSI Secretary General Djoko Pramono expressed his gratitude to the Pupuk Indonesia Group for supporting the development of national weightlifting athletes through organizing championships. According to him, the mission of the National Weightlifting Championship this time is to provide a platform for competition for senior athletes so that the development of athletes in the regions runs in a sustainable manner.
Djoko said that holding this Senior Weightlifting National Championship would also inspire regions to produce potential athletes who in the future could make Indonesia proud through achievements.

"We have already held a Junior National Championship in Yogyakarta, so on this occasion we PB Pabsi would like to thank PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) who sincerely always helps, fully supports this event and serves as a venue for proving a tiered and sustainable coaching process at every level. province," said Djoko Pramono.

He also said, with support from PT Pupuk Indonesia, PABSI is more enthusiastic about producing lifters who have world-class achievements and especially for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.

Deputy I General Chairperson of KONI, Suwarno welcomed the holding of the 2022 Senior Weightlifting National Championship. According to him, this championship could be a preparation for weightlifters for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.

"Thank you to PB PABSI who has organized a series of championships, this is a competition process, coaching to get potential athletes prepared by Indonesia for multi-events, we have an Olympic target. Indonesia is in 5th place, one of which is in weightlifting. Hopefully lifting iron just gets better over time," he said.

This National Championship will compete in 14 classes in the male and female senior category, namely for the male classes 55kg, 61kg, 67kg, 73kg, 81kg, 89kg and +89kg respectively. While the classes competed in the women's section are 45kg, 49kg, 55kg, 59kg, 64kg, 71kg and +71kg respectively. This year's National Championship will be attended by 44 male lifters and 41 female lifters from 18 PABSI Provincial Governments.

Previously, 136 athletes from 21 provinces competed to be the best in the Junior Weightlifting National Championship at Klebengan Sports Hall, Sleman, Yogyakarta. This championship competed in 14 classes followed by 79 male athletes and 57 female athletes.

PB Pabsi said that all the athletes who took part in the Junior Weightlifting National Championship were athletes who passed the minimum requirements for the first total force (ATP).

The weightlifters achieved a number of achievements, including winning 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals at the Tokyo Olympic Games in July 2021. Then winning 6 gold medals at the IWF Junior World Championships in Athens, Greece in May 2022. And the most most recently won 12 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 10 bronze medals at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya Turkey in August 2022.
