PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) has once again been listed in the 2025 Fortune Southeast Asia 500 (FSEA500), which features the 500 largest companies in the Southeast Asian region based on revenue for the 2024 fiscal year. In the latest ranking, Pupuk Indonesia secured the 69th position, rising from 71st place the previous year. In 2024, Pupuk Indonesia recorded audited total revenue of IDR 81.6 trillion.

Cindy Sistyarani, Vice President of Corporate Communications at Pupuk Indonesia, stated that the company's inclusion in the list not only reflects its business scale in terms of revenue but also serves as an important indicator of public trust in a company that consistently and responsibly maintains strong business fundamentals. This recognition further strengthens Pupuk Indonesia’s position as a strategic state-owned enterprise (SOE) that is adaptive, efficient, and globally competitive.

“This achievement reflects our consistency in strengthening the company's fundamentals through a spirit of efficiency, technological innovation, and a focus on farmer welfare. We continue to maintain a balance between business performance and our strategic mandate as an SOE contributing to national food self-sufficiency,” Cindy said on Tuesday (June 17, 2025).

Cindy also highlighted that Pupuk Indonesia has consistently pursued business process improvements through a technology-based approach. On the production side, the company continues to expand its adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies, such as big data integration and the Internet of Things (IoT), to enhance operational accuracy and production efficiency. Currently, more than 32,000 sensors have been installed across 48 production facilities to support real-time monitoring.

According to Cindy, one of the company’s key efficiency efforts is the gradual revitalization of production facilities, including the construction of the Pusri III-B plant, which will replace an older, high-energy-consuming facility. The new plant is projected to reduce gas consumption from 32 MMBTU/ton to 21.7 MMBTU/ton, with potential cost savings of up to IDR 1.5 trillion per year. This energy efficiency initiative is part of the company's ongoing efforts to boost the competitiveness and productivity of Indonesia’s fertilizer industry.

“Efficiency is not just about cost savings, but about creating smarter, measurable, and sustainable work processes. Initiatives such as plant revitalization and technology integration are our foundation for building a more adaptive and competitive company,” Cindy added.

On the distribution side, Cindy noted that Pupuk Indonesia is accelerating digitalization, including through the i-Pubers platform, which ensures effective and accountable distribution of subsidized fertilizers. Currently, i-Pubers is used in over 26,000 official kiosks across Indonesia and plays a vital role in ensuring accurate and monitored fertilizer distribution.

Furthermore, as part of its long-term strategy, Pupuk Indonesia is also expanding its business portfolio through diversification. In the downstream sector, the company is building Indonesia’s first soda ash plant through Pupuk Kalimantan Timur, with a production capacity of 300,000 tons per year. This facility aims to support the domestic supply of raw materials for several key industries such as glass, paper, detergent, and textiles.

Pupuk Indonesia is also pursuing clean energy projects, such as green ammonia production through Petrokimia Gresik and the Green Ammonia Initiative from Aceh (GAIA) through Pupuk Iskandar Muda, in support of a transition toward environmentally friendly industries. Meanwhile, the development of a fertilizer industrial zone in Fakfak, West Papua, is aimed at strengthening fertilizer distribution in eastern Indonesia and establishing a new, sustainable economic growth center.

“We believe that comprehensive transformation — in operations, digitalization, and business development — is key to creating long-term value. Pupuk Indonesia’s inclusion in this list further confirms our strategic direction based on sound governance, operational efficiency, and a strong commitment to farmers. We will continue to uphold our commitment to ensuring targeted, equitable, and sustainable fertilizer access throughout Indonesia,” Cindy concluded.
