Jakarta, August 7, 2026 – PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) is ready to support the achievement of the 1 million-hectare (ha) target for the Modern Agriculture Advanced Agricultural System (PM-AAS), initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture, by providing subsidized fertilizers in accordance with the designated allocation. The commitment was conveyed by Pupuk Indonesia’s Senior Vice President of the Indonesia Agrichemical Research Institute (IARI), Gita Bina Nugraha, while speaking at a Sinar Tani webinar on Wednesday (August 5, 2026).

Gita stated that the success of the modern agriculture program is highly dependent on adequate fertilizer support. Based on a study conducted by Pupuk Indonesia, fertilizer can contribute up to 62 percent to rice productivity. Therefore, the program needs to be supported by sufficient fertilizer availability.

“Pupuk Indonesia is strongly committed to ensuring the success of the PM-AAS program. We will closely oversee every stage of its implementation, while fertilizer stocks and distribution will be monitored daily to ensure farmers’ needs are met in accordance with applicable regulations,” said Gita.

To support the success of the modern agriculture program, Gita continued, Pupuk Indonesia is currently updating data on Prospective Farmers and Prospective Locations (CPCL) and aligning the electronic Definitive Plan for Group Needs (eRDKK). This step is being taken to ensure that both beneficiaries and subsidized fertilizer allocations are aligned with the requirements for implementing the modern agriculture program in the field.

She further explained that Pupuk Indonesia also has sufficient production capacity to meet national fertilizer demand. Pupuk Indonesia is currently supported by five fertilizer-producing subsidiaries, with an annual production capacity of approximately 9.4 million tons of urea and 4.6 million tons of NPK, in addition to various other types of fertilizer.

This readiness is further strengthened by an extensive distribution network. Pupuk Indonesia is supported by more than 27,000 Fertilizer Recipients at Delivery Points (PPTS) throughout Indonesia to ensure that fertilizers reach farmers on time.

“In terms of both production capacity and distribution infrastructure, Pupuk Indonesia is ready to support the Government’s strategic program. We have the capability to ensure fertilizer availability so that farmers can implement PM-AAS optimally,” Gita said.

To maintain the smooth distribution of subsidized fertilizers, Pupuk Indonesia had prepared a national stock of 1,076,023 tons as of early August 2026. This amount is equivalent to approximately 36 days of national subsidized fertilizer requirements.

Pupuk Indonesia is also strengthening distribution oversight through various digital systems. One of these is the Command Center, which monitors fertilizer movement from production plants until it is redeemed by registered farmers.

“Through this system, we can ensure that fertilizer distribution is transparent and accountable. Potential delays can be detected early and addressed immediately, while also ensuring that subsidized fertilizers are received by eligible farmers,” Gita explained.

She further revealed that the implementation of the modern agriculture program to date has shown encouraging results. In addition to achieving the targeted planting area, rice productivity has also increased to approximately 10 tons per hectare.

“This demonstrates that the combination of PM-AAS technology, highly capable human resources, and precision fertilization can significantly increase productivity. This kind of synergy must continue to be strengthened,” said Gita.

On the same occasion, Gita also emphasized the importance of using organic fertilizer to support the success of the modern agriculture program. She therefore encouraged farmers to make optimal use of the subsidized organic fertilizer allocated by the Government.

“This year, the Government has allocated approximately 600,000 tons of subsidized organic fertilizer. We hope farmers will make optimal use of this allocation so that PM-AAS implementation can deliver maximum results,” she said.

Meanwhile, Amin Nur, Head of the Center for Rice Crop Agricultural Engineering and Modernization under the Ministry of Agriculture, who also spoke at the webinar, explained that PM-AAS is a modern rice cultivation system based on technology, precision, and a corporate approach. This year, the program is being implemented across 1 million hectares of farmland and is targeted to expand to 3 million hectares next year.

According to Amin, PM-AAS is not an entirely new technology, but rather an enhancement of existing cultivation systems through the application of modern technology at every stage of production. Through this approach, planting, fertilization, spraying, and harvesting can be carried out more effectively, efficiently, and precisely, thereby increasing productivity.

He added that PM-AAS implementation has now entered the pilot stage across 2,000 hectares of farmland in 15 provinces. In the near future, the Ministry of Agriculture will also conduct the first PM-AAS harvest across 100 hectares in Sidenreng Rappang (Sidrap) Regency, South Sulawesi, with potential productivity reaching 11.5 tons per hectare.

“Through PM-AAS, we hope to encourage agricultural regeneration. The more young people become involved, the stronger the foundation of Indonesian agriculture will be in the future,” Amin concluded.
